How we use cookies
Plain English, and short - because there isn't much to tell.
The short version
This site sets two kinds of cookie. The first kind is needed for the site to work at all - keeping you signed in, keeping your booking together as you move between steps, and protecting forms from being submitted by someone else. Those are always on, because without them the site is broken.
The second kind is Google Analytics, which tells us which pages people actually find useful. That one is entirely your choice, and it is switched off until you say yes.
Strictly necessary

These don't need your permission under the privacy regulations, because the site cannot function without them.
Analytics - only if you agree
If you accept, we load Google Analytics, which sets cookies beginning _ga to recognise a returning browser. We use it to see which pages get read and where people give up, so we can fix the confusing bits.
If you say no, none of it loads. We don't request the script, so no analytics cookies are set and no request is made to Google at all.
What we never send to analytics
Nothing about your health. Analytics sees which pages were viewed - it does not receive your name, date of birth, contact details, anything you type into a form, your test results, or anything in your patient record. Those live in our own systems, encrypted, and never leave them for this purpose.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice whenever you like - it takes one click, and we'll ask you again fresh.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the strictly necessary ones, booking and signing in will stop working.
