What to expect

Blood test
We check your iron levels. An infusion may be considered when tests confirm iron deficiency and oral iron is not suitable, tolerated, or effective.

Assessment
A clinician reviews your results with you and explains whether an infusion is appropriate, and what it involves.

Treatment
If it goes ahead, the infusion is given at the clinic by our nursing team, with you monitored throughout.

An iron infusion is a treatment, not a pick-me-up, so it starts with blood tests and a proper assessment of whether it is right for you. If your results do not support an infusion, we tell you that - and what would actually help - rather than treating you anyway.
The treatment itself
Infusions are nurse-led in our CQC-registered clinic, with time built in to talk through what to expect beforehand and how you might feel afterwards. Costs are confirmed at the assessment stage, before anything is booked.

- We tell you that, and what would actually help, rather than treating you anyway.
- What happens on the day?
- Time is built in to talk through what to expect beforehand and how you might feel afterwards, and then the infusion is given with a nurse monitoring you.
- Do I need a referral?
- No. You book directly and keep your NHS GP.
